Here's what I did today:
Snuggled my girls. Hattie had a fever all day and was ridiculously snuggly. I think she snuggled me more today than in the entire last year. She has a lot of cold symptoms as well, and asks me to wipe her nose about every 2 minutes. She fell asleep in my arms 3 or 4 times, and even at dinner time when she wanted a hug.

Laughing Banana
I noticed that I rarely take videos of Anna. She is such a calm and observant baby - not a busy body like Hattie was. So I was glad to finally catch her giggling on camera. Enjoy!

St. Patrick's Day Party 2010
Those of you who have followed our blog for the last few years (2008, 2009) know that we love to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. It's a random holiday, I know, but I suppose that makes it all the more fun to get excited about. This year we hosted a little party, trying to spread the St. Patrick's Day cheer that we love.
We had a nice array of Irish food, along with some green and silly food. Paul and I made Irish soda bread (yum!) and Irish chicken and dumplings. Our friends brought Irish coddle, which I loved and goes marvelously with soda bread, rainbow fruit salad, leprechaun hat treats, and green sherbet pie.
After dinner we started the trap building contest. Gratefully, the kids mostly ran off to Hattie's room so that us grown ups could get serious about catching the leprechauns. Here are the finished products:

The Petersons
The Babcocks
The Foutz (How do you make Foutz plural??)
And the Iverson trap

I must say that the Foutz's and the Babcock's took trap building to a new level for us! Check them out:
Paul is determined to have a better trap next year...I think he's already working on the plans.
Of course, the best part of the holiday is watching Hattie in the morning as she sees the mess the leprechauns made.

Serenades from Hattie
Hattie loves to sing to Anna. She doesn't always do it on demand, so we got lucky yesterday.
If you can't tell, she starts off singing "Once upon a dream" from Sleeping Beauty, then moves to the "baby song" (?), then "Rockabye Baby," with a sweet transition into "Patty cake." I think it's clear that she rarely finishes an entire song - too easily distracted. Anna LOVES to watch everything that Hattie does. These are some of the most rewarding moments as a mother - watching my girls play together and be friends.

Snow
Last Tuesday we got snow! This is probably the 4th or 5th time we've had snow this year. Of course it was gone by the end of the day - typical for Lubbock. So we knew we had to take advantage of it while it was there. Hattie's friend Juliet came over and they had a party out there. Sadly, neither of them have very good snow clothes since snow isn't super common here, but they certainly didn't care about their freezing feet and bums.
Hattie would have stayed out there all day if I would have let her. For the rest of the day, whenever she saw the snow she would shout, "It's snowing!"
